Dear Class of 2020,

I am writing to congratulate you upon the level of academic success experienced in the Foundation Year of Our Lady of Mercy College.

Collectively speaking, the 2020 Year 12 students have achieved outstanding results across a broad range of educational pathways including General Studies, Vocational Education and ATAR courses.

Success has many dimensions; for some, it is a high ATAR ranking. Others value the completion of a formal VET qualification or the offer of an apprenticeship. Some students feel they have been successful by merely completing Year 12 and seeing their studies through to the end.

The College challenged you and your classmates to focus upon the goal of ‘being the best you can be’. I am so proud of your efforts, your resilience and your response in getting to this point in time. Your dedication and diligence have helped create opportunities or ‘next steps’ in your journey as a lifelong learner.

It is my delight to share with you some of the highlights that your efforts have produced;

  • Ben McAtee has been offered an Electrical Apprenticeship with Go Electrical Contracting

  • Jacinta Tartaglia secured an employment/study opportunity to complete a Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care

  • Elysia Shields completed her Certificate in Early Education & Care and has commenced employment at Binningup Occasional Care
