Alumni Spotlight: Mackenzee Richter – Agricultural Science at Murdoch

Meet Mackenzee Richter, a graduate of the Class of 2023 who’s now studying Agricultural Science at Murdoch with the intention of transitioning to veterinary science.

What are you currently studying, and where?

I am in my second year of Agricultural Science and plan to transfer into veterinary medicine.

How did your time at Our Lady of Mercy College shape your career or studies? Were there any teachers, subjects, or programs that inspired you?

Our Lady of Mercy College provided me with the space and opportunity to figure out what I wanted to do and how to achieve that. Mr Briers was a big help in getting me through to where I am today!

What is a memorable moment from your time at Our Lady of Mercy College?

Graduation Day was the most memorable experience—getting to celebrate the end of high school and start the next part of our lives.

What lessons or values from your time at the College do you still carry with you?

OLMC taught me that new opportunities come from trying new things. I am always open to trying something new and different, especially if it will get me to where I want to be in my career.

If you could give advice to a student at Our Lady of Mercy College about preparing for life after high school, what would it be?

There is no pressure to know what you want to do as soon as you leave. You have plenty of time to figure it out, and it doesn’t have to be just one thing.

What has been the biggest challenge since leaving school, and how have you handled it?

Adjusting to life at university while moving out of home.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I see myself just finishing my second degree and working as an agricultural vet.

We wish Mackenzee all the best in her future endeavours.
