Evidence suggests that parent engagement is critical to student success. Recognising this, the College hosted an information evening on Wednesday, 22 May, for all Mercy parents and caregivers who wish to strengthen their connection with their child’s learning and wellbeing.
The event, known as Mercy Connect, focused on enhancing the partnership between parents and the school to support our students' academic and emotional wellbeing. Parents participated in sessions led by our Heads of Years, which empowered them to reinforce the support systems at home that align with those in place at school. These sessions covered topics such as Character Strengths, study skills, and communication in partnership.
A highlight of the evening was a workshop led by Paul Litherland on maintaining online safety in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Paul emphasised the significant role parents play in ensuring their children's online protection. The following day, Paul conducted tailored sessions for our Year 7, 9, and 11 students, addressing issues specific to their age groups.
Thank you to Paul Litherland, Mr David Mazza, Mr Alex Smith, and Mrs Jo Ball for presenting these engaging workshops. We also thank the parents who attended and actively contributed to Mercy Connect. Your involvement is greatly appreciated and vital to your child's success.
