We are excited to celebrate the achievement of our outstanding student, Elena Alvarado (Year 9), who received recognition this term from Honourable Nola Marino for completing the 2023 Premier’s Reading Challenge.
The Premier's Reading Challenge, established in 2022, is a vital literacy engagement program aimed at encouraging students to delve into the world of books and fostering a love for reading while enhancing literacy levels.
Elena's commitment to the challenge saw her conquer 12 books within the allocated period. Nola visited Elena in our school library to commend her achievement and present her with a well-deserved certificate.
During their interaction, they spoke about the significance of literature, exchanging thoughts on preferred genres, with Elena expressing her fondness for dystopian novels.
Nola is the Shadow Assistant Minister for Education and Member for Forest and has dedicated her life to serving the community. She advocates for various causes, including increasing literacy levels, particularly among disadvantaged families. Her visit underscored her genuine passion for supporting our local communities.
We are fortunate to have a nurturing environment at our College, with inspiring library facilities and dedicated staff who continually encourage students like Elena to explore the joys of reading.
