Jordyn Secures School-based Traineeship Following the Year 10 Work Experience Program

Jordyn’s enjoyment of Early Childcare was ignited through the Year 10 Work Experience Program in June this year when she attended Brilliant Beginnings in Treendale.

During Jordyn’s placement, she was provided with valuable industry experience across all age groups, where she assisted with art and craft activities, outdoor play, preparing meals, playing with and comforting babies.

Jordyn received regular positive feedback from staff, stating that she showed great initiative and responded well to the needs of the children. Upon reflection of her placement, Jordyn said, “I enjoyed my work placement because it confirmed what I would like to do in my future career. I loved working with the kids and helping them/providing for their needs.”

Following the Year 10 Work Experience week, Centre Manager Teresa MacLean indicated she would like Jordyn to be a permanent part of the team at Brilliant Beginnings. As such, discussions between Teresa, ATC Worksmart Field Officer, Fiona Blackmore and College Careers staff were initiated regarding a prospective School-based Traineeship for Jordyn.

On 20 October, Jordyn signed her School-based Traineeship contract and will commence in November, working towards completing the nationally recognised qualification in Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Jordyn will continue to attend the workplace one day a week as a paid employee while continuing her studies at the College for the remaining four days.

Congratulations, Jordyn, on your appointment with Brilliant Beginnings. We look forward to supporting you on this journey and are grateful for the ongoing relationship with ATC Worksmart and Brilliant Beginnings.
