Piper Briggs left Our Lady of Mercy College last year to pursue an exciting opportunity at Riverlinks Child Care & Community Centre, starting her Part-Time Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care Traineeship.
Earlier this year, Piper achieved her goal of transitioning to full-time work and training at the Centre. While at the College, Piper was very committed to attending her ongoing work placement at Riverlinks and maximised any additional opportunities that were presented to her. She completed over 400 hours in the Workplace Learning program, which is a phenomenal effort!
Through her placement, Piper built strong connections with the children and staff, and she’s now a valued member of the Riverlinks team.
Here’s Piper in her own words, sharing how she found her way into a career she loves:
“I always really struggled at school, but I knew I wanted to work in childcare when I left. With the help and understanding of Mrs English, Mr Briers, and Mrs McKenzie, I started attending work placement at Riverlinks. I had to learn to be responsible for the work I missed when I wasn’t at school, but it was worth it because I love my job. In 2023, I finished Year 10 at Mercy and was offered a traineeship at Riverlinks after completing over 18 months of work experience with them. I couldn’t have achieved my goals or learnt to keep working hard without Mr Briers and the Career Services Department. They taught me that it’s actually a great thing to know what you want to be and focus on that.”
Congratulations, Piper, and thank you to the Riverlinks Child Care Centre team for their continuous support.
