Our Career Services Team has been visiting students studying Vocational Education & Training courses externally from the College. The purpose of these visits is to see how the students are progressing with their courses.
They recently visited Beau (Year 11), Benjamin (Year 11) and Taya (Year 12) at the Bunbury Regional Trade Training Centre - Eaton Community College Campus.
These three students are studying a Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start). This qualification is designed to provide participants with industry-specific training to gain skills, knowledge, and behaviours to enable transition into an indentured apprenticeship in the Electrotechnology industry. Chatting with the students was very positive. They are all enjoying the course and expressed how beneficial the training is.
Taya commented:
"I have really enjoyed the course so far this year. We have managed to learn so much in a small amount of time. I have made many new friends and love learning how to use many different tools and equipment that will be able to help me in the future.
I have also loved seeing my work come to life, such as when we wired up circuits the other day and added lights to them. Just seeing the light shine really made me happy as ten weeks ago I couldn't do something like this, and now we are doing more difficult tasks.
This course has helped me get my foot in the door of the Electrical Industry and will hopefully help me with my future goals of becoming an Electrician. I can't wait to be able to start my work placement and take what I have learnt out into the real world. I would recommend this course to many of the students thinking of a career pathway in this type of industry as it will really benefit them as it has for me. I can't wait for next term and the rest of my pre-app to see what else I can learn".
The College thanks Donna Wroth from the Bunbury Regional Trade Training Centre for all her hard work and efforts in offering so many opportunities for our students.
