Hats off to our incredible students who achieved an impressive 6th place out of 809 schools at the Science and Engineering Challenge Finals in Sydney on Friday, 27 October, 2023!
The Year 9 and Year 10 students received the invitation to compete in Sydney after winning the top spot in the Science and Engineering State Challenge in WA earlier this term.
The Science and Engineering Challenge, organised by the University of Newcastle, is an immersive and hands-on competition that encourages participants to envision a future in Science and Engineering.
The students collaborated in teams to undertake a diverse array of engineering activities, including designing eco habitats, crafting a functional hovercraft, and, to cap it all off, conquering the thrilling Bridge Buster challenge.
Our students excelled, achieving second place in the hovercraft activity and making their mark as one of just two schools to emerge victorious in the challenging Bridge Buster Final.
Beyond the competition, they enjoyed the opportunity to explore iconic Sydney landmarks such as Bondi Beach, the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Bridge, the Australian Museum, St. Mary's Cathedral, and Circular Quay.
Well done to each and every one of you – your unwavering dedication and hard work have made us very proud!
This achievement also emphasises our College's commitment to fostering a passion for learning in the fields of Science and Engineering.
