A group of students in Years 9 and 10 visited the South 32 Worsley Alumina Refinery recently.
The students learnt how bauxite is mined near the town of Boddington, transported by conveyor to the Collie refinery, where it gets processed into alumina powder.
They listened to a presentation, participated in a site tour, and engaged in a 'round robin' activity to explore different career stations.
The students enjoyed the opportunity to learn about refinery operations, as well as to network and explore future career opportunities.
South 32 offers some great programs for young people, such as work experience placements, apprenticeships, and traineeships. Please contact our Career Services team if you would like to know more.
